I think I get asked this question the most, “how do I grow my hair longer and faster?”, and I do have that answer because I did it personally. I wanted my hair longer and I didn’t want to wait for how long the process usually takes. Of course, there’s only so much you can do because hair growth is a natural process, but here are a few things that can help the growing process along more smoothly!
No More Lightener
Go your natural color boo boo. I promise you that it is beautiful. Ditch the bleach and embrace your natural color. Not coloring your hair will cause less breakage at the ends of your hair so they can get stronger and shinier and healthier, and it will seem like your hair is growing so much faster but really your hair is growing at the same rate it’s just not breaking off at the ends anymore.
Regular Trims
Yes girl you gotta cut the bad stuff off so you can have healthy, thicker hair. I would recommend trims every 12 weeks. So not too often but enough to get the bad dead ends off so your hair can be happier. And if you haven’t cut your hair in forever and half of your hair is dead… boo you gotta cut it off. Split ends are just nasty and it’s not cute anymore. Start fresh and grow out your hair faster and healthier and you’ll thank me when your hair is healthier because healthier hair is thicker hair.
No More Heat
Yes that means blow drying too. This causes damage to your hair if you do this daily. Let your hair air dry and enjoy your natural hair. If you heat style it, that is causing damage and breakage and you need to do everything in your power to stop that.
Ditch the Pony
Stop wearing your hair up when you sleep, or really at all. But if you must put it up, braid it and use a scrunchie instead of a hair tie. Hair ties break hair. And since we are trying to do everything in our power to avoid breakage, we will now need to use something that is softer. No more messy buns either!
Mask Weekly
I mean you could do it bi-weekly too if you’re too busy. But making sure your hair has moisture and protein will really help your hair health.
Washing
Having the proper shampoo and conditioner for your hair is essential. I talk about this more on a few other blog posts here!
