Are you getting your face made up for a fancy event? Did your makeup artist give you any tips on how to prepare for your event or wedding? I am going to talk about what to expect and things you can do in preparation for your next makeup appointment!
Dermaplaning
I have mentioned this technique before here, but to summarize, this is essentially shaving your face of those tiny thin hairs. It will help your makeup lay on your face better and also make your face feel and look smoother. If you go to an esthetician, they should dermaplane your face as well as help give you other skin care tips!
Waxing
Do not wax your eyebrows the day of or even the day before your event. I say this because the makeup won’t stick to the newly waxed skin and it needs time to heal from the stress. I recommend waxing 2-3 days before your event. I would also suggest going to a special licensed waxer so you’re not risking having a horror story of someone waxing off too much or getting a burn right before a very important day.
Comfort Zone
I don’t recommend doing dramatic makeup looks if you’re comfortable with a more natural look. For example, if you never wear eyeliner, a dramatic cat eye may not make you feel comfortable. If you’re preparing for a fancier event such as a wedding, a photoshoot, or a work party, you still want to up your makeup game somewhat. However, that doesn’t mean you have to feel uncomfortable with going too big and beyond your comfort zone! Ways you can stand out while still feeling comfortable: try a bold lip color, wear fake eyelashes, or try a subtle shimmer eye shadow!
Summary
Preparing for your makeup appointment is important! Makeup can only do so much; it doesn’t fix someone’s skin texture, but it helps even out skin tone and covers up some imperfections. The more you can prepare your skin in advance and know what ideas you have, the better your makeup artist can help you feel comfortable and ready for your event!
